The Meaning Of Family

I feel strongly about the meaning of family, because family support is an essential component of my success.  I was raised with the support of a dynamic mother, who always believed in my ability to succeed.  I in turn have tried to raise my two daughters, Lindsay and Erin, in the same manner.  Currently, they are entering their sophomore and junior years at Howard University and Florida A & M University, respectively.  I must take a moment to brag and say, how proud I am of their accomplishments.  They are two great young women, who are on the pathway toward MAKING A DIFFERENCE in the world!  I am also blessed with a supportive husband, who is a dynamic man who has been extremely supportive of our daughters and our family.  He loves to cook and enjoys making new recipes for us to try.  He is also a great listener and communicator.  Young people enjoy sharing their visions and concerns with him.  We pride ourselves on having created a home where young people like to come.

The Meaning Of School Family

I have been a member of the Kenwood Academy family for the past thirty years.  Shortly after graduating from Illinois State University, I was accepted to teach at this very prestigious institution.  Over the span of 30 years, I have been fortunate enough to see the many outstanding accomplishments of my students.  I consider Kenwood Academy as my school family becauseof the support I have been given by parents, students, and faculty. I always say, "everything you  need to know, can be found at Kenwood Academy!"  Remarkably, I met my husband at Kenwood and my children are also Kenwood Academy graduates.  In every sense, Kenwood is like a second family!
