Student Activity Page

A composition has three main parts that function to  get the ideas  the writer wants to  communicate to  his or her audience.

THE INTRODUCTION
The introduction introduces the main points to be written about in the composition. It does not elaborate  on the ideas. Rather, it states , names , or identifies  the major ideas to be covered in the paper.
THE BODY OR SUPPORTING PARAGRAPHS
Each major idea introduced  in the  introduction is elaborated on in its individual supporting
paragraph. Here is where the writer develops the idea by using details or examples to support the idea. It is important to remember that a supporting paragraph has only one main idea.
THE SUMMARY
The is the end or concluding paragraph. Main ideas are restated and summarized.

When writing, be sure to include a topic sntence for each paragraph.
