"State in a Shoebox" Ideas

· Bring in 3-D artifacts to represent resources, products, etc.
· Make a shoebox-sized state flag and tell about its design.
· Make a small poster/booklet showing state symbols.
· Interview a person who has traveled to or lived in the state.
· Write a short report about the historical sites in the state.
· Create a special purpose map. (climate, products, resources)
· Write a short report about places to visit/things to do in the state.
· Tape record the state song or songs with references to the state.
· Bring postcards from the state and tell about the pictures on them.
· Bring souvenirs collected from travels in the state.
· Write a short report about famous people from the state.
· Create a travel brochure about the state.
· Write a paragraph on how the state got its name/nickname.
· Write a brief report about the history of the state.
· Create a chart of temperatures, population, or elevation.
· Create a small poster/booklet about the wildlife found in the state.
· Write a report about the government officials in the state.
· Your own ideas! But remember it needs to fit inside a shoebox.
