The restoration and upgrading of deteriorated urban property by middle-class or affluent people, often resulting in displacement of lower-income
people.

Gentrification is loaded word. It is being floated around many of the neighborhoods of Chicago. For some city residents, it means that they will be forced out of their homes. For others, it means that a neighborhood may now be safe to live in. For businesses, they may be looking to invest.
