Student Instruction Sheet
Each cooperative group should decide on the format
they will use to document their investigation of the selected
region of the USA. You can save your work on disk and present
it to the class on the computer or you can print out a copy to
distribute to your classmates. Presentations must include:
Location
Title:
- 1. Write the name of the state(s) or region.
Plan the lettering (font and style) to be easy to read and to
be attractive. Write the names of group members.
- 2. Map: Include a map of the region. Perhaps
a map of the USA, with the region highlighted. Be sure to include
a compass rose, names of major cities, the capital, label other
important features.
- 3. Describe the state's (states') location relative
to the Equator and the Prime Meridian (a box of latitude and longitude).
You can also describe location relative to other states, bodies
of water, significant land features.
Place
- 4. Describe the most common climate(s) of your state
(s). (Temperature and precipitation patterns). Include
symbols to illustrate the climate.
- 5. Include a picture of a specific physical feature
found in your region. Label it.
- 6. Population: Describe components of the population
of the state (s): ethnic groups or tribes, religions, languages
other than English.
- 7. Copy/Paste picture or illustration of a famous
place from this region (state or states).

- 9. Name and illustrate one environmental problem
your region has.
Movement
- 10. Name and copy/paste,(or draw), pictures of three
items that your country exports.
Region
- 11. Write a poem about your state or region. Choose
a quality that is appealing to you.
The poem should be at least two verses, or something
of a different style, such as
a shape poem, Haiku, or name poem.
- 12. Write five predictions for the future of your
region.
