Hands on Activity
Making a Green Bean Growth Bar Graph

Materials:
poster board for making a classroom graph
200 or more 1 inch square pieces of construction paper
       paper cutter
12 inch ruler & yard stick
       glue stick

Directions:
Divide a standard size poster board into 1 inch square sections
vertically and horizontally thus making an oversized graphing board.
Write children's  names as the bottom of the board allowing a graphing
      bar per child.

As children begin to measure the growth of their plant they will
represent each inch of growth with a 1 inch square previously cut by the
teacher. They will use a glue stick to adhere squares to the graph.
Children should measure every  other day.  They should observe and
    answer the questions:
                         1. Which plant is the tallest/shortest?
                         2. Which plants are the same size?
                         3.  How many inches did your plant grow  since the last measurement?
                         4.  Why do you think this plant is not growing?
