Reading

I enjoy reading because it builds up my vocabulary.  Even though I may not think that it does me any good to read fiction, it actually makes me smarter.  When there are too many words I don’t understand, I pull out a dictionary to find out what the complicated terms mean, so I can use the new words to show off to my friends.

Tennis

I like playing tennis because it is an easy sport to learn.  It gives me a good workout, and all my friends like to play tennis with me.  Though it may sound boring, I always have a lot of fun, especially when I see my friends making mistakes during a game.

Dancing

Dancing is another one of favorite things to do.  I only like dancing to Spanish music, though, because I love the rhythm, and I know what I’m doing.  It’s too bad I’m too shy join a dance group.  It looks like I’ll always be dancing in front of a mirror all by myself.

Books

Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews

This novel is mind-numbing and suspenseful.  It is about a young girl who is locked away in an attic with her two brothers and little sister after the death of their beloved father.  Only too late will she find out the real reasons for her mother’s willingness to abandon four children under the harsh supervision of a wicked grandmother who is capable of the most unspeakable things.

Judas Child by Carol O’Connell

This is a thrilling novel about two little girls who are kidnapped by a madman.  It is up to a local cop to solve the mystery.  Twenty years before, his own twin sister had been abducted in just the same way, and now he feels it is his duty to rescue these girls.

The Other Daughter by Lisa Gardner

This is a chilling story about a young woman’s search to find out who she really is.  She has had amnesia all her life, and with the help of a detective, she finds answers about herself and the mysterious death of her parents’ other daughter.  However, things aren’t always what they seem.

Entertainment

Tapping my fingers impatiently, I think of what I could do that won’t be so dull.  Usually I go out with my friends to a movie.  I like really gory, horror movies.  It doesn’t matter whether the movie is good or bad, as long as I see it with someone I care about.  My friends and I are always having fun making fun of how fake everything seems, like if one of the extremely bad actors can’t cry no matter how hard he is stabbing himself with a pair of tweezers.   However, watching movies at my ugly house or at the crowded theatre isn’t the only thing I do for entertainment.

Listening to music when there is nothing on television takes the misery out of being home alone.  I’m always home all by myself, and while most people my age would take advantage of that fact, I don’t.  Instead, I dance all over the house and let my neighbors think I’m crazy.

When there is really nothing left to do, I take long, wonderful naps.  When I sleep, everything just disappears and turns into a magical fantasy of cars I will never drive and people I will never get the chance to meet.  My dreams are always exciting, adventurous, and strange.  They make me want to stay asleep so I can find out what happens next.  So if you ever want to know where I am and what I’m doing, the best place to look is in the movie theatre or my house where I’ll be dancing and napping away.
