Hobbies

Basketball:
I am the type of person who loves sports. Basketball is my favorite. I have played it since I was in fifth grade, but I never played organized basketball until this year. I play at least four times per week. Basketball keeps me energetic, and it distracts me from my worries.  In a game, the only thing that I think of is the ball.

Drawing:
I don’t draw as often as I would like, but when something inspires me, nobody can stop me. I like to draw Japanese animations and the characters of my own stories. I usually draw with pencil, and I avoid putting color in my drawings because I always end up ruining it in some way. Just to draw something and make it look just like you imagined it can take a long time; so drawing keeps me busy on the weekends.

Video Games:
I have a Playstation and some games like Tomb Raider, Teken III, and Mortal Combat. To me, it is more entertaining when you play against another person, especially in fighting games. But I have to admit that I don’t like to lose. I can play for many consecutive hours if the game that I have been playing is new. But, after days pass, and I can’t discover the way of deciphering it, I stop and play another one. Now I’m trying to increase my collection of games, which is going to take a long time; well, you know… there are some things you can’t afford in this world.

Angels Watching Over Me
      By Lurlene McDanniel

Do you believe in angels? This splendid novel for teenagers talks about romance, illness, love, and, yes, the possibility of angels. It is the story of a teenager who has to be responsible for herself in the hospital; meanwhile, her mother is on her fifth honeymoon. This book will keep you flipping its pages until the end.

Deck the Halls
By Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark

This is an amazing story filled with suspense, intrigue, danger, as well as a warm holiday spirit. It is about a very successful mystery writer named Nora Regan Rally and the kidnapping of her husband three days before Christmas. This is a Christmas classic for many holiday seasons to come.

Romiette and Julio
      By Sharon M. Draper

Do you like books about romance, reality, soul mates, bullfighting, and some poetry? Well, this is the book you are looking for. This is a story about a romance between an African-American girl and a Mexican boy who meet on the Internet. They have to handle not only their family problems, but also their school problems such as gangs. Even though the title of this book is similar to Romeo and Juliet, they are two different stories. You will like it!

Entertainment

Watching movies is like seeing a person’s imagination plugged into a screen. I watch movies more often than I play cards or listen to music. As long a movie has a good topic, good characters, and comedy, it can keep me in front of the TV for hours. I rent movies at least five times per month. I don’t often go to movie theaters because it is so expensive. I only go if it is a very special moment or if I have the money.
Some of my favorite movies are Seven, Face Off, and X-men. On my list of favorite actors are Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe, Josh Harnett, Julia Roberts, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Cage and others whose names I can’t remember. For the moment I’m making a list of the best movies and actors and trying to rent the ones that I haven’t seen jet.

 Searching in the Night

It is almost midnight, and my eyes are tired,
Maybe it is because of the vision that I have every night at the same time.
I want to sleep, to rest my mind, but it costs me a lot of work.
Finally, the weariness of my shadow makes my eyes give up,
And now the vision of the outside world is gone.
Without noticing, I am unplugging my soul from the center of the world.
But wait! There is something that doesn’t let my mind concentrate
On the divinity of my journey.
I open my eyes trying to look through the dark
For something that I can’t see;
My ears are searching,
After three seconds of long waiting,
I find the irritable noise that pervades my senses.
Every night I hear it,
It tells me how fast my life is going,
And since then all nights are too long for me.
The same numerous and intense tick-tocks disturb my mind
But even when the immortal creature
Hanging on the dark of the tight and black wall against me
Devours my infrequent peace,
I understand by the echo of that horrible sound
That I’m still part of this world.
