Dyett's Narrative

Dyett Academic Center is located in a rapidly changing upscale community that is culturally and economically diverse.  Dyett currently serves grades seven through eleven.  The plan is to expand the high school program by adding one grade each year.  Our first freshman class enter in August 1999, and will graduate in the year 2003.  Technology is an integral part of the learning process as Dyett's students are prepared for the 21st century.  Our Academy for International Finance is aimed at preparing students for a collegiate experience in the business world.  This program offers a sequential, intensive experience in accounting and the world of finance, while students continue their rigorous, college-preparatory course requirements.  Technology is another focus in our Academy.  Students studying technoly will be prepared for a future career.  Culinary Arts will give students an introduction to food preparation, sales, and management.

Our professional and para-professional Staff is uniquely qualified to address the problems and responsibilities of our rapidly changing community and our complex society.

The school's uniform is black pants and gold shirts for the boys and black skirt or pants and gold blouses for the girls in the 7th and 8th grades.  The uniform for the high school boys is a white shirt with a tie and black pants and the girls must wear black pants or skirt and a buttoned down blouse.

Dyett's position is that by involving all constituencies within the community as "stakeholders," we will be able to better withstand the many factors that burdens our society today, and this involvement will have a positive impact on learning.
