Investing in the stock market is a risk. People can make or lose money. In the 1920's, "buy on margin, get rich quick" was what people believed. In October, 1929, the great stock market crash caused investors to lose large amounts of money and led to the Great Depression. Should the people have known? Look at the headlines from that time and judge for yourself.
The stock market offers the opportunity for investors to make or lose money depending on where they invest money and when they buy and sell their shares of stock. No one can predict if a certain stock will go up or down in value, but with experience, knowledge and a little luck, it is possible to make money by investing in the stock market.
Your assignment is to invest $10,000 in the stock market and to try
to make more money through your investments. First, we have to become familiar
with how the stock market works. Then you can make your investments and
track your stocks over time to see that you are making a profit.
