Post definitions and locations and anything else which is relevant to the class on the  graffiti board before class.

Enjoy learning about the myths of a culture other than Greece.  
Search for a myth in that culture which explains the existence of evil or any of the big questions. 
Clan narration.   Volunteer anyone?  
  
 

 

 Day Five 
Class does not meet.  
Go to Kenos with a friend from class for a gyro and baklava.  
Share a few myths, laugh  a  little and enjoy the day.  Report back to class on Monday.
Homework:   
Bring in one or more definitions of the word "mythology" on note cards for the graffiti board.  Please cite sources.  Bring in books from home or from the library with some favorite myths. 		 Homework:  Read myths of creation from around the world.  Look for similarities to and differences from the Greek myth. Homework:  Locate the following on a map:   Mesopotamia
  • Babylon
  • Greece
  • Egypt
  • Rome 
Choose a myth to prepare for your turn as clan narrator. 		 Homework:  Enjoy reading some myths this weekend.  Be working on your project.  Be thinking about what to say on the "Give me a piece of your mind" e-mail site. Homework:  Find or write a version of a myth which includes the educational as well as the entertainment elements of clan narration.  Prepare to assume the role of clan narrator Monday and render the myth to the class.
Day Six

Group to specialize on individual deities using various resources including WWW.  Work together to create a presentation on this deity for the class.  You will have about 10 minutes to share you project on Friday.

Class does not meet.  Join a friend at the Olympic in downtown Crystal Lake.  While you sample the  pastitsio and lemonada, check out the decorations on the walls.  Greet the owners with "epharisto."
Homework:  Craft your clan narration.  Be thinking about which deity interests you for a group project. Homework:  Craft your clan narration.  Call at least one member of your group on the phone to brain-storm. Homework:  Craft your clan narration.  Get together with your group to complete the project. Homework:  Browse the Students' links at your leisure.  Share narrations at the dinner table.  Ask your family what they think about the unanswerable questions.  How does your family answer them. Homework:  Give a Roman banquet at your home.  Invite a few friends from class. Offer to transform a classroom at school to a representation of Mt. Olympus or the Elysian Fields.  Eat nectar and ambrosia.
