Welcome to my homepage!!  I hope the information in my site will enlighten you and provide a different outlook when serving at risk or special need students.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

I am an early childhood special education teacher working in an inclusion setting. I have a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and B.A. in Early Childhood Education with  an approval in Early Childhood Special Ed. I am also the LRE Facilitator at Reavis. We are currently finishing our first year with the Education Connection Grant. This grant allows $110,000 for two year to implement LRE (least restrictive environment) for special need students.  Click here for info. on LRE

CLASSROOM

I team teacher with a male early childhood teacher. The fall of 2001 will be my seventh year at Reavis. I love the team teaching model because my partner and I compliment each other. We understand each others strengthens and weaknesses and provide each other support when needed. We serve children 3-5 years old in the State PreK Program. We have two half day programs morning and afternoon with 17 students in each. Each program has five special needs students and twelve State PreK students. We use the play base theory and provide age appropriate curriculum with all students modifying and accommodating were needed. The team interacts with all the students and all services are provided in the classroom. Many observers state, "I can't see the difference". That's the way we like it!

EXPECTATIONS

I want to share my experiences and successes to parents, teachers and administrators on inclusion. I feel special need students can be with their non disable peers with the appropriate support and resources. I hope the information and resources will address concerns and provide some inspirations to teachers and parents working with special need students. Click here for inspiration.
