Tutorial # 1 Downloading and Saving Sound and Movie Files

Now that you understand the basics of how sound and movie files play in Web pages, you're ready to add sounds and movies to your own pages.  First you will need to create a folder and download some sound files.

  • Step 1: In Dreamweaver, create a new site and name it Websounds. Set your site settings to your WIT directory. Create a root folder named Tutorial. Your audio and video files will go in this folder.
  • Step 2: Now you will need some sound and movie files to work with. Go to the Tutorial Files page which has a selection of WAV, MIDI, AU, MOV, and RM files that you will need to complete the tutorial.
  • Step 3: Download all the sound and movie files to the Tutorial folder. To download a file on a PC, right click on the file and select "Set Target Image". If you are working on a Mac, you can drag and drop the file from the browser window to your sound folder. .Make sure you have the sound folder you created selected before saving the files. You can preview the sounds by clicking on the highlighted text.
  • Step 4: Upload the entire Websounds folder to your WIT directory from within Dreamweaver's Site window.

You are now ready to proceed to tutorial #2 and add these sounds to a Web page.
