Activity Ten
Why Are the Babies Dying?
Before starting this activity you need to refresh your memory about what is meant by infant mortality rate.
This site may be helpful, as may this one.

Select a variety of countries, no more than ten. Include the USA, France, African nations, and some other island nations.

Determine what the infant mortality rate is for each nation.

Order the countries from lowest mortality rate to highest.

Enter this data into your journal.

On a sheet of paper or on a word processor, explain as well as you can why there is such a difference in the infant mortality rate of these nations.
It is not possible to prevent every baby that is born from dying. But there have to be ways to explain why so many die in one nation and so few in another. If you can find evidence in the suggested sites or in other sites on the web that explain this fact, use them but make sure you give credit to your source(s) by proper citing of the source.
If you have ideas of your own feel free to express them in this essay.
