WELCOME
  

Welcome to Division 132 at Dyett Middle School.  We are located at 555 East 51st Street on the edge of beautiful Washington Park.  We are a seven-twelve school and we are on the regluar CPS schedule.   I hope everyone had great summer and you are now ready to begin the next step on your way to high school.  We will be preparing for science fair the early part of the year.  This preparation will be on-going as we begin studying the different areas of the sciences.   So everyone get your thinking caps on and begin a great year!

                                            ABOUT THE TEACHER  

I am Mrs. Collins and I will be teaching seventh grade science in Division 132.  I have been teaching for fifteen years, the last four years have been here at Dyett Academic Center.  I began my teaching career in Missouri teaching fourth grade.  I moved to Jackson, Mississippi and taught third grade for three years,  I transferred to sixth grade when the Jackson Public Schools began moving to the middle school concept. 
I enjoy teaching middle school and interacting with the students in my classes.

                                EXPECTATIONS

  1) Students must make passing grades in all major subjects.
  2) Students must pass the U.S, Constitution Test.
  3) Students must make at least 8.0 on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) in 
      both math and reading.   
  4) Students must read and write book reports for at least 25 books.
  5) Students must study at least 90 minutes a night.
  6) Students must wear the Dyett specified uniform daily.
  7) Students must complete a science fair project (grade level appropriate).

I am sure all students are aware that school starts the day after Labor Day, September 3,
2002.
