Introduction
Today more than ever adolescents need to prepare for a career at an early
age. If one waits to long or tends to procrastinate, he/she
may not be aware of the skills needed to pursue various careers.
Students need to be aware of the degree of education one needs, types of
skills, talents, and the like. Career awareness is essential for
one to be able to make oneself marketable in the ever-changing global economy
of the 21st Century.
Aim
The purpose of this WebQuest is to make students aware of
the various skills and or talents needed in order to pursue a specific
career. It is also intended to make students aware of the abundance
of resources the World Wide Web contains .
Rationale
Today's world is more technological then ever before. Students need
resources that go beyond the classroom. The World Wide Web
is a resource that is becoming readily available to all students.
In the same vein careers paths one may choose may change many times within
a persons lifetime. If students are aware of the talents, skills,
expectations, and obligations one needs to fulfill, he/she will be more
confident and better prepared to enter the workforce in the 21st Century.
Goals and Objectives
Upon completion of this WebQuest students be able to:
complete a self-interest inventory.
email the teacher.
select a career and research it.
develop a resume for this career.
Audience
This lesson is designed for students grades 7-12 who are interested in
"career awareness".
Prerequisites
Basic computer skills are suggested to complete this WebQuest, but they
are not a requirement. Once on this site you should be able to navigate
it as you choose. The site has links to pages for the career information
needed to full the requirements.
Subject Matter
The subject matter of this lesson primarily consists career education
awareness via the internet.
Instructional Plan
This WebQuest is designed to be used on an individual basis in conjunction
with a career mentor or advisor. Throughout this WebQuest site there
are links to other sites containing the information relevant to the completion
of the task.
Materials

to the Internet.

Word processing sofftware.
Assessment and Evaluation
Students will be assessed by a rubric that has been constructed by the
teacher.
