Via Dolorosa 3/30/02 Old City

This is a sign along the Via Delorosa. This is the walk

that takes you to the fifteen stations of the cross. The Via

Dolorosa was started by the Fransican Monks that came to the

city in the Fourteenth Century. They still lead a procession each

Friday at 3:00 PM. We have lots of pictures but will only put

one here.

Most of the stations of the cross have the area marked

and then a little chapel associated with that station. This

chapel was the second station. This chapel is the Chapel

of the Flagelation (where Jesus was scurged and had the

crown of thorns). This ceiling on the chapel shows the

crown of thorns.
