About Me

My name is Velma F. Jordan. I have resided in Chicago all my life.  I attended the Chicago Public Schools, (CPS), (Carver Primary, Elementary, and High ). I also received my B.S. and M.S. degrees from Chicago State University. I formally taught at Phillips High School for five years as an EMH/LD teacher.

I am presently teaching at the James Wadsworth Elementary School as a Learning Disabilities inclusive teacher for the Middle School. I truly love my students.

In my spare time, if I'm not planning activities for my students, I enjoy working on crossword puzzles, reading novels and short stories, and of course, shopping. I also have a vegetable garden that produces a wealth of great food for the soul and body. Traveling has become a passion of mine, too. I have visited over thirty-five states and two countries, Canada and Mexico. God willing, I hope to set my feet in many more.

My other interests in which I haven't participated for a while are: bowling, softball and dancing. My professional and personal affiliations are: Council for Exceptional Children, International Reading Association, American Legion Auxiliary, and Manor Community Church Sunday School Teacher.

Feel comfortable to visit with me via e-mail to share interests, hobbies and web-based lessons.
