1.Work Expectations
a. Attendance
It is our goal this year to improve
teacher attendance. Please set a goal for yourself. If you
were absent seven times last year
aim to decrease this by one or two days. You can do it!!!
If you have to be absent, notify the
clerk with a pre-notification of absence slip or call the clerk
by 8:00 a.m. Call substitute
center at 553-1080 as soon as you know you will be absent.
Cause of Absences Forms are to be completed
immediately upon returning to work. It is your
responsibility to obtain the form
from the clerk, fill it out completely and return it to the clerk by
end of the day. A copy will
be placed in your mailbox for your files.
b. Punctuality
The work day for teachers begins promptly
at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.
The work day for ESPs begins at 8:00
a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
c. Swiping "In and Out"
All school personnel are required to
swipe in and out. Do not expect the clerk to input time for
you.
d. Attire
Professional attire is required.
We require no less from our students by requiring them to be in
uniform each day. Be a model
for your students. Blue jeans and shorts should not be worn.
e. Telephone Usage
The school telephones are for school business only.
f. Class Coverage
Children are never to be left unsupervised
in the classroom, the corridors or any where in the
classroom, the halls or anywhere in
the school or school grounds. In case of emergency, buzz
the office and a teacher assistant
will be sent to supervise the class.
g. Information
You are expected to read and be knowledgeable
about all bulletins, memos, announcements,
policy statements, procedures, rules,
etc. that are issued or passed on to you from the principal.
Keep such materials in your FYI notebook.
Post the following in your classroom.
Fire Drill
Disaster Drill
Daily Time Distribution Schedule
Master Schedule of Preparation Periods
Classroom Rules
2. Room Preparation
Rooms should be decorated and ready
for the students before the first day of school. The bulletin
boards inside and outside the classrooms
should be attractive and meaningful.
Learning Centers should be developed
to reinforce skills in reading, math and writing. The centers should
be
developed around the same instruction
utilized in the classroom. Learning Centers can help you meet the
instructional needs of
every student in your classroom.
3. Planning
Lesson
plans will be submitted weekly. Begin submitting plans on Friday,
September 7, 2001 for the following week and every
Friday after that.
Emergency plans to cover 3 days should be submitted by September 28, 2001.
4. Parent Letters
A letter
should go home to the parents stating your expectations for the class.
Send them a copy of the classroom rules and
consequences. A supply
list should go home at this time also. Make sure a spiral notebook
is included on your list to be
as a journal for students to
write daily what they have learned. Submit your letter to Ms. Dean
(Kdg.-3) or Ms. Horton
(4th-8th) on Friday 31,
2001 by 9:00 a.m. The letters will be copied and returned by the
end of the day in order to be
distributed the first day of
class.
All written communication sent home should be sent to the office for approval.
5. Student Discipline
Discipline
is the responsibility of all staff members.
Do not send students to the
office or stand students in the hall. There are procedures for discipline
referrals. Please follow the
following procedures:
In emergency situations where a student
must be remove because he or she is a danger to himself or others buzz
the office .

The principal and assistant principals are the only staff members with the power to suspend.
6. Late Departures
Please notify the office if you plan to stay in the building after 3:30
p.m. An administrator must be in the building in order to
work late.
7. Building Cleanliness
You must be a model for
your students. Keep your work area neat and clean. The classroom
should be kept reasonably neat
and orderly. Students
should be encouraged to keep their work area tidy.
The common areas in the building
should also be monitored for cleanliness. Notify the office to report
areas in the building that
need the attention of the janitorial
staff.
